Jatinangor, 29 May 2025 – The Communication Management Student Association (HIMA Mankom) of Universitas Padjadjaran once again held its annual environmental initiative, Mankom Menanam (“Mankom Plants”). This year’s program was held in collaboration with the West Java Forest Plant Certification and Seed Agency (SPTH).
The event serves as both a contribution to environmental preservation and a commemoration of the student association’s anniversary. Mankom Menanam aims to foster ecological awareness through hands-on tree planting and the rehabilitation of degraded land. As a strategic partner, SPTH provided high-quality seeds, supervision, and forestry education. This collaboration marks a significant step in aligning academic communities with government technical agencies to advance sustainable conservation programs.
This year’s planting continues an environmental initiative launched in previous years. In 2024, HIMA Mankom partnered with the Ir. H. Djuanda Grand Forest Park (Tahura) for a similar conservation effort within a protected forest area.
“We want this activity to serve as direct education for students while contributing to real solutions for climate change and land degradation,” said a representative from the organizing committee.
With a growing commitment to the cause, HIMA Mankom hopes that future Mankom Menanam programs will expand to wider rehabilitation areas and build more strategic partnerships.
This activity is part of the Communication Management Study Program’s efforts to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 15: Life on Land, which focuses on the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. This includes sustainable forest management, preventing desertification, restoring degraded land, and halting biodiversity loss.
